A local company selling wooden toys with a turnover of £1.5M needed a server solution which was both reliable and secure.
Working with another IT company who set up the network wiring, I configured and installed their server.
The Linux server has the following services running:
- Internet Gateway
- Firewall
- Email with Anti-Spam and Anti-Virus
- Shared Files
- Shared Address Book
- Shared Calendar
- Fax-to-PDF
- Backup
- SMS Notification
Since the server has been installed, in the last 3 years, they have had no security breaches or computer viruses.
All of the faxes received are converted into PDF documents and emailed to a member of staff, which provides a saving of around £500 per year on fax paper.
Their new Mail Order and Sage Accounts software runs directly from the server. In addition to this, the server gives members of staff access to their PC desktops from a location outside of the office.
I can administer the server remotely, which means any updates can be performed quickly and easily. I am notified by SMS should any problem occur and in the event of a power failure, the server has battery backup and is then powered down gracefully.
